Hello Mr Rippetoe

This is my very first post, I liked your book and I need to be asking you this.

I am 26 years old male from Egypt, had a shoulder stabilization surgery with surgical anchors due to repeated shoulder dislocation.

I was into bodybuilding before that, now I was looking into power lifting because there are some routines that I can not play any more as a side effect of the surgery.

Like bradford/rocky press & Clean And Press "especially the final part!" & Push Press & Seated Barbell Military Press & Smith Machine Behind The Neck Press & Smith Machine Overhead Shoulder Press...all those differ from "I can not do any more! & I do not feel comfort doing it and it's painful too.."

Other Workouts like usual bench press or any work out I do not have to hold the bar behind my nick or raise my hands high with weights I can do with comfort.

Ok, my question is: is there is any chance at all I can start training for Power Lifting with cautious and selected workouts? or should I start looking for another sport?

PS: I just finished my first 3 months after surgery

Thanks in advance

It may be that in a year you will be able to do the full ROM shoulder position exercises. It too early to say about that now. But you must push your rehab as hard as you can if you are ever to get the full function of your shoulders back. You will have to train the big lifts as best you can during this period.
