i was wondering how assistance exercises progress then wondered how BB programs progress in terms of adding weight?
do they also "linearly progress" 5 lbs per workout?
i don't know anything about these kinds of programs and because this is the bacon forum, i hope you won't regard my question about physique programs disgusting or off topic.
Usually they progress by adding dbol, since most of what they do is pointless shaping crap or hardcore HIT OR DIE

You can estimate based on the size of the muscles used.
Ex: bicepzzs curlzz use the arm bicep and a bit of the shoulder, it'll progress at around 1/3 to 1/2 the weight of the pressing movements at an equal level of development. (We're talking like a whole POUND per session here.) While a rack pull is mostly comparable to a deadlift in what participoops.

Any actual 'big' bodybuilders still need to move a lot of weight.
They tend to do arnold-esque barbell movements like narrow feet squats & t-bar rows. Also, always bench! Big weights, lots of cheating, 10 reps or so.
They also move big weights on machines, fully loaded leg press etc.
From what I have seen they pay little attention to the weight, they just make sure to have a shit load on there. If they get stronger, they add more.
They also do bodyparts per day so they are really never testing their low rep strength.
The gym rat wannabe's, who just use cables flyes and a zillion types of curls never progress. They come in and do the same shit every day and are always just as skinny and weak looking.

Come on man, don't be such an ignorant asshat. Some of the best lifting partners I've ever had were natural bodybuilders.
Don't assume that all bodybuilders use steroids. Its just as prevalent in the strength community as well (Ahem, professional strongmen anyone?)
Also, there can be an integration of a good strength based program based on compound lifts and bodybuilding. Anyone that doesn't believe me can google stan efferding, or matt kroczaleski, who will be stepping on the stage this year IIRC

Irony is ironic
Care to elaborate? So far you haven't really done a good job of justifying your comments.

To the OP, this might answer your question: http://jcdfitness.com/wp-content/download/Lyle_McDonald_Generic_Bulking_Routine_FAQ.pdf (I will admit, I haven't read it in its entirety because.. meh.)
I haven't done any job justifying my joke comment, you're right.
