So this was what my wife wanted for Valentine's Day. No flowers, candy, or dinner out at an overpriced restaurant. This is a 10lb. brisket that was marinated overnight, rubbed with my special blend of spices, and smoked for 14 hours in the smoker with a blend of mesquite, oak and apple chunks. I made a special Valentine's Day BBQ sauce and some asparagus as well. This was the BOMB. Added at least 5 lbs to my squat the next day, and was gone by mid week. I'll be looking to do some ribs in the next week or two...stay tuned.

I was half expecting some ab shots. Colour me relieved.

And hungry.

You are a good man.

That's what I'd rather have instead of the flowers, candy, or dinner out as well, except I'd probably ask for my husband's dry-rubbed ribs instead of brisket.

Seriously, three replies and no one singled this out for a joke?

I much prefer the ribs myself, but this may be due to the cook time. The ribs only take 5-6 hours, but I have to get up at 5am to make sure the brisket is done in time for dinner. We've had to eat late more than once because I slept in.

Had a girlfriend once that really enjoyed a good spit-roast.

Looks good!

Feel like offering up some brisket recipes to a first-time smoker?
