I will be Overweight (6'0", 178 lbs) in 6 lbs
Our pediatrician told my brother at 5'10" 208 that his BMI was way too high and that he was unhealthy. He replied "I am a lean 208, what are you talking about?" to which she replied "yes you are lean but that doesn't matter because your BMI is too high for your height!"

Not news: The BMI is invalid with respect to people who are even slightly athletic.
News: Doctor's exist that still do not know this.

Even little old me who you all rip the piss out of for being too light is classed as overweight on the BMI scales.
During my last doctors appointment, he highlighted it as an area for concern.
The funny thing is, that I went to the doctor because of difficulty putting on weight possibly linked to diarrhea. I later found out this was just lactose intolerance. I have put on 2-3kg since.
If I reached my recommended weight of 200lb, I would be classed as obese. I actually look forward an hope for this day to come soon.
It would be fun to direclty be called "obese" by doctors health experts, and them be bemused at the fact that you are not actually fat. It would twist their melons. Maybe they would realise the worthlessness of BMI, maybe they wont.

I'm 3 lbs off overweight. I can't wait.
Luckily, most doctors I know think BMI is crap.

I care. If it weren't for this pointless e-banter, I'd be even more despondent than I usually am.

In my experience most doctors consider skinny-fat to be the ideal. Even when I was skinny-"strong" during my kung-fu days, and 90s-small ripped with abz,my doctor at the time was convinced that this proved that I was overly stressing my body (4 hours of strenuous exercise PER WEEK!!!) and that I should cut down to a brisk 30 minute walk 3 times a week instead.
And last year I went from 58 kgs to 74 kgs (I know, not at all impressive by SS novice standards, I didn't "just do the fucking program") and at 5ft7 I was considered overweight by the BMI standards.
Just thought I'd add my silly two Euro-cents worth to the mix of silly e-banter, for Gary's enjoyment, before Greece gets kicked out of the Euro and I am obliged to contribute 2 drachmas instead (which might end up being the only currency in the world with a negative value).

Similar thing happened to me actually. I went for a blood test about 2 months ago and they had a nurse weigh me then send me to the doctor, the first thing the doctor says is "....you don't weigh 15 stone!?" (210lbs at the time, still look pretty skinny tbh) and proceeded to go weigh me 2 more times before admitting defeat.
..........He then later said I was overweight yet didn't look overweight - it was like he was trying to voice concern yet get shot down mid-sentence, he honestly didn't know what the fuck to do because his precious charts were wrong. I thought the universe was gonna implode or something.

I've had my height and weight measured and BMI calculated by about 10 medical professionals for various reasons in the past few years.
Every single one added a comment to the BMI field, i.e. "not fat" or "muscular" or "athletic" or "trained".
Every single one remarked that my BMI was not a problem because I was obviously in good shape.
Medical professionals are not all stupid although some seem to be.

Many of the comments here would be cause for me to switch doctors. If he doesn't know jack shit about what a healthy person looks like I don't want him/her treating me.
