Perfect form!! just kidding.
What is happaning to your elbows? its trying to fly. Funny music too, the music sound like your mucking around lol!
Make sure to tighten up those elbow. Look like is a high bar position.
Point taken on the elbows haha, never occured to me. As for high bar position I'm not sure I'll have to get a better video angle I guess, it has been commented that the bar looks like its going to fall off because it "not on our neck", so hopefully not too high?
Does it look like I'm using enough hip drive? Anything else glaringly obviously wrong with it?
As for the music just an audioswap on youtube so you dont have to listen to people talking haha.
Thanks for your reply!

yea just leave the music like that ;). Yea try to keep your elbow still!. Your chest seem to cave in because the elbow. I suggest you deload the weight on the next workout and fix your form. Re post your video, if there still more problem, our fellow member will help you out. GL!

Just echoing tamv that it looks suspiciously high bar and keep your elbows back and up. There does seem to be hip drive (IMO anyways for what its worth) but those elbows are really distracting :P
But kudos to you for only recently starting SS and being able to at least have 90kg on your back.
Cheers for the input guys, I will do as you said and try again,my training partner has borrowed my copy of SS so have to get him to bring it to our next session and make sure I use the low bar technique!!

Thanks:), although I probably don't look it I do weigh about 83kg myself being tall so hopefully should be lifting much more soon :).

Read the book first if you can. The squat chapter is 60 pages long and goes into great depth about proper form and how to fix common mistakes. You are doing a high bar squat right now, and looking at the book briefly for a few minutes before your work sets will not teach you how to do a proper low bar squat.
As is obvious I haven't read all the book, used it more as a reference source thus far, perhaps a more thorough read is in order! Exams on at the minute so perhaps not just yet haha. Shouldn't even be on here really....I ill try and get the low bar technique sussed though and post another vid.

Pretend that strength is a class and that your next exam is your next workout. Read the book like you would read exam material.
The best way to perform well on an exam is to find out where in class material and the text overlap.
Gym is class, bar is teacher.
First you have to read the text.
Then, go back through and pay special attention to the sections that directly relate to what you learned in class (workout).

Try to keep your lower back tighter and arched. Like this:

You will probably have to take some weight off the bar; at least I did.
Got a pair of weightlifting shoes on the way so will post a new technique vid when I get them, I have attached a picture of my bar position, don't have the book at hand to compare my position as my mate has it. How does the position look to you guys, too high?
Thanks.

I didn't need to see that picture to tell you that it was a high-bar squat, just like every other high bar squat posted by people who haven't read the book. I'd recommend reading it and trying to relearn the movement from scratch, as it's going to be somewhat different from what you're doing.
