View Full Version : Joey's Log

So I am finally going to start a log to keep track of my training. I started training again in March 2010. I am 39 years old and promised myself that I would be in the best shape of my life by the time I was 40. My nephew turned me on to SS last month and now I am hooked.
where I'm at:
Press = 150
Bench = 275
Squat = 365
Deadlift = 315 (I haven't deadlifted since I've started SS, starting weight was 225 went up to 315) Been nursing an elbow injury, but will start up this week)
These numbers were alot lower when is started training in March. I haven't lifted weights in 9 years, but used to lift weights in my 20's.
I'm 5' 9, weigh 200lbs. don't know my waist size but I wear 34's pretty loose.
I was lifting for 2 months and then started SS in May. Strength shot up in the past month, however I am really stiff.
Moving over to 5/3/1

Took my nephew to the gym yesterday and walked him through the 4 lifts. He's a freshman in college and plays soccer. Good kid. Anyway he wants to start lifting so I took what little knowledge about SS and showed him 4 lifts.
I never did power cleans, so obviously I won't show him. hopefully, he took what I learned and runs with it. Right now he wants big guns! So SS seemed boring to him. I promised him it would the best thing he can do.
We'll see. Any suggestions on how to keep him motivated or tips, bring em on!

Left elbow is SHOT! tried to do dips but could not get one. Iced elbow, and am frustrated.
Going to Squat tomorrow (with the right grip) and hopefully by Wednesday, its ok...

Played softball on Monday night, diving all over the place at 3rd. Went to bed feeling good, woke up feeling like someone hit me in the lower back with a sledgehammer.
Taking some days off. WTF?

First and foremost, Happy Father's Day to all the SS Dads!
Someone told me that I would never know the true meaning of Love until I had kids, and they were 100% right.
Ok, Back is feeling better, elbow is ok so I am starting the week as follows
fri=deads (as best as can)
7x225 (felt really good today so did extra)
Incline DB Press
skipped the DB Kroc Rows today.

Feeling good, taking it easy. Spent the next 20 minutes really stretching myself out. Hoping to make it through the week with no injuries and progressing in the Assistance Exercises as I move along.

upright rope rows/ss/cable pulls (lawn mowers)
Felt weak on the press, then just felt like doing these for assistance exercises. Felt good, want to be easy. Back and elbow feeling better as the days go by..Hopefully next week I can be back to 100%
