Okay, so this January-April I lost a little over 40 lbs. I know that's not what we do here but I needed to do it as I weighed about 230 at 5'10" with no muscle, and besides I didn't know about SS then.

Now whole heartedly on SS and trying not to YNDTP, and that means eating a lot, and here's my problem:

"Healthy" or "Clean" foods tend to have a lot less caloric density than junk food - make you full with less calories - this fact helped me lose the 40 lbs. But now that I'm trying to eat >4000 calories/day - if I stick with stuff like chicken and broccoli I am absolutely stuffed. But if I eat potato chips and chicken wings, I feel lousy.

Any ideas for food that is dense in calories yet has good nutritional value / won't make me feel like Jabba the Hut?

As a side note, thinking about this has made me finally realize the value of milk.

- Learn how to make your own guacamole. Avocados are LOADED with high-quality calories, good healthy fats and you can put it on ANYTHING!!!

- Extra virgin Olive oil can be added to shakes, at 100 cal. per tbsp ;-) Oats can be blended in, too

- Sweet potatoes ROCK

- Pistachios and Almonds, both calorically dense AND great for your heart and arteries, too

How do you feel about eggs?

I love eggs. My daily breakfast:
6 egg fritata w spinach, ham, feta + cheddar. I whisk olive oil right into the eggs before they hit the pan. That plus a bowl of oatmeal w peanut butter, honey, and bananas. About 1000 calories. Problem is I can't stand to eat again before about noon.

The fritata sounds like it's around 800 kCal. Drink a quart of milk with it for a total of around 1500 kCal. Eat similarly-sized meals with a quart of milk four times a day for 6000 kCal/day. That's the magic of GOMAD - roughly doubling each meal's calories without too much extra effort.

Looks good, only thing you could do is add some butter in the pan before putting the eggs, which would add perhaps 100 kcal to your breakfast.

One could always add milk cream to the whole milk, I've been experimenting with that and it worked well, nice taste and it's a way to add a little bit of calories.

This is a bit of advice that helped me a ton, but when you're trying to kill a 4000 kcal day, you might have to skimp on veggies. By that I mean, you need to use that space for something more dense! Rice, pasta, sweet potatoe, etc... Compare the calories per cup for those three against that for broccoli and you'll get the idea.

I'm obviously not saying to skip veggies altogether, but a small serving of healthy green shit next to more nutrient dense foods will give you the benefit of veggies without the stomach-stuffing effect they carry.

Yeah, I have to constantly remind myself I'm only doing this for a few months; it truly is a 'diet' and not a 'lifestyle.'

May as well throw in some dark chocolate. I think a Dove bar has about 200 calories of deliciousness and magic health bestowing benefits too.

Coconut milk brings the game with high fat and deliciousness.

Also, to the OP... if you eat to get up to 200 lbs or something, you'll have to eat that much to stay there. Get used to it.

Yeah, or maybe I'm planning to cut back down to 175.

Kidding.

This might not be what you're looking for, but peanut butter works great. Get yourself some all-natural, non-hydrogenated peanut butter. One teaspoon is usually around 90 calories. Take two teaspoons. Smear it over some of that Country Harvest multigrain bread, or any multigrain bread. Two slices = 200 calories. That's a 380 calorie sandwich. Make yourself two, and you're pushing 800 calories. They go down pretty easy.

Ever consider making yourself a couple of double cheeseburgers? I don't really consider cheeseburgers to be 'junk.' They have quite the fat content, but animal fat for me is win. I buy mine frozen. 14 grams of protein per patty, 230 calories. Make yourself a double. There's 460. Add some cheese (two slices = 120 calories and an additional 10 grams of protein). Then you add the bread. Right there you're pushing 800 again. If you have more than one, or make an extra sandwich with one patty, you're over 1,000.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind. Pretty straightforward. It's what I've been doing and it works great. I don't really check my animal fat intake. I just down the red meat and the chicken, as well as the tuna.

You can also try grilling up a steak, cutting it in half and making a couple of sandwiches out of it. I've been doing that as well.

Fat is EASY to toss on everything. The problem is, sometimes it makes you feel satiated for quite awhile (ie, your breakfast). Another option is a lot of carbs - brown rice, yams, more oatmeal, etc. can easy toss in 500+ calories to a meal and you'll be hungry again in no time if you don't have much fat in the mix. You might feel bloated for a bit, but it goes away.

And yes, there's a reason milk is essential to most people trying to bulk up on the program - it's a guaranteed 2500 calories of awesome.
