Is it the increased calories that make me so sleepy during the day?
After work I come home and if I'm not careful fall asleep on the couch. I'm totally exhausted!

I would say it has more to do with the fact that you are growing tissue. This is why children and pregnant woman need lots of sleep, and why conditioning takes less time to recover from.

What do you mean if you're not careful? I have to be careful to GET some sleep. Don't ever fight sleep when you're training. You get strong by resting well.

Yeah, unless taking a nap after work ruins your sleep at night then sleep all you want. Is it keeping you from training or eating or something? Otherwise I don't think there's a problem.

I just suggested in your bench thread that you may want to eat a little more on bench days... this thread makes me think you should eat a little more on all days. You're probably trying to grow like crazy and need sleep/food to fuel it.

This is the problem. If I sleep in the afternoon I don't get a good nights sleep - plus I feel like crap upon waking up. But it's good to know the cause is growth, I definately notice the changes in my body.

Do you eat much carbs? Maybe you just need more readily accessible fuel at that time of day. When is your last meal before the afternoon sleeps kick in?

I come home from work, eat lunch and/or milk, then crash out on the couch with the laptop and check whats going on here - much sleepiness happens at that point.
Also, does lying on the couch watching TV count as recovery/sleep?
