I'm from Sydney. That's in Australia, the tratior country of Julian Assange. I want to go on study exchange maybe in 2012 before the world ends, but i don't know where. These are the universities available to me:

USA:

Boston University
Case Western Reserve University
Cornell University
Emory University
Georgetown University
Purdue University
The George Washington University
University of Arizona
University of California
University of Georgia
University of Miami
University of North Carolina
University of Pennsylvania
University of Texas at Austin
University of Washington
University of Wisconsin-Madison

UK:

Royal Holloway University of London
University of Bristol
University of East Anglia
University of Edinburgh
University of Glasgow
University of Leeds
University of Manchester
University of Nottingham
University of Sheffield
University of Stirling
University of Warwick
University of York

I really don't know fuck about your countries' geographies. So help me choose where to go. The requirements are, the university has to be full of hot babes and parties where people play flip cup and beer pong (well this part is more directed at USA). The city should be fucking awesome, or if not, then on the coast. And none of those prestigious universities. So suggestions, please! Then there's also some choices in Canada, but who wants to go to Canada. And some choices in Scandanavia or the Netherlands.

Wow, are your priorities all fucked up. What are you studying?

University of Miami will have the most women wearing the fewest clothes, the closest beaches, and a huge amount of partying.

lol, I was just adding a bit of humour to it. I assumed most of them would be decent universities for studying, no?

I'm studying Commerce (Economics/Business...)

I can't speak for any of the other choices listed, and I'm not sure which campus you had in mind, but I wouldn't pick the University of California. Don't get me wrong, it is a great system (it's where I earned my degree), but I think there are definitely more interesting choices out there if academics aren't your only concern.

They're all "good" but a few are better than others.

Fair enough. Well I'm a smart kid. I have an 80 average for the first year, so a pretty good university is a priotity too. I just want to have a good time as well.

You mentioned you wanted attractive girls. That pretty much excludes all of England. Just pick a school near the coast with a warm climate.

Hahaha.

Actually I just realised I won't be 21. That's not too much of a problem is it, or should I delay it till 2013?

In england you can easily get a drink aged 12, especially up north. "Officially" its 18 though.

Still, I dont think you'll get what your after here. The best UK ones on that list would be Edinburgh, Manchester & London. Because they are big exciting cities and big universities. But for the boozing & partying fun, Warm parts of the USA or even scandivia would prolly be better.

Definitely Penn. Philadelphia is the best city on that list, and Penn is the best school. You're studying commerce, it would make sense to take classes at fucking Wharton, no?

Plenty of babe and partying, but with the added bonus that many of the people you meet might actually be interesting human beings.

Sounds good, but I read Penn is a member of the Ivy League. The people aren't too snobby and prestigious are they?

Wisconsin usually tops the list of the biggest party school year after year. UT in Austin is a very special place though. Southern girls and quite possibly the best music scene in the country. Would definitely need a fake ID there to have fun though

Nah, they're kind of the bastard stepchild of the Ivy League. It's lols when opposing Princeton fans start chanting 'safety school' at basketball games.

Off the top of my head...

Royal Holloway University of London - not actually in London, it's in Surrey. Nice area, but it's out in the country and despite decent transport into London, it's not ideal for a night out.
University of Bristol - pretty good nightlife, near Wales.
University of East Anglia - dunno. EA has a reputation for being inbred country folk, but it's pretty civilised. ;) Norwich's okay but a bit of a trek to other big cities.
University of Edinburgh - beautiful city, a bit touristy (and thus a bit more expensive), good nightlife and the Fringe festival is worth checking out. Can fly to London from Edinburgh/Glasgow pretty easily.
University of Glasgow - some rough areas nearby, local accent's even more indecypherable than Edinburgh. ;) Not as pretty as Edinburgh, but a big city with plenty going on.
University of Leeds - big(ish) city, decent nightlife.
University of Manchester - big city, decent nightlife. Strong accent.
University of Nottingham - younger sister went there, she enjoyed it. Some rough estates, but all big cities will have them.
University of Sheffield - hilly city, big artifical ski-slope. Plenty going on.
University of Stirling - no idea beyond it's small and near Edinburgh and Glasgow.
University of Warwick - beautiful but small city, can get into Birmingham which is a bit of a dive in my experience, but a big city with plenty going on.
University of York - beautiful but small city, near Leeds

Basically, big cities generally mean better nightlife, but smaller historical towns will still have things going on and are nicer to wander around when you're not getting pissed.
The more northern cities tend to have worse weather (especially scotland and the west coast), but it'll toughen you up and it's still hot in summer. ;) Good mountain/hill walking too if you like that sort of thing.

Without knowing the strengths of the relevant departments (which should definitely be a factor!), my personal choice would be Edinburgh or Bristol for a combination of nightlife and nice cities.
East Anglia and Stirling probably have the weakest overall academic reputations, though once again I'd check the rankings of the relevent departments, it's been 10 years since I was checking out unis.

Hope this helps.

University of Arizona over-meets the hot girls requirement. It's huge problem is it's pretty much in North Mexico (just the other side of the border) (though I am about to graduate from Arizona state so I am a little prejudice against it)

fixed the above for you. Also, if hot girls and mildly nice weather are even minor priorities, stay the fuck away from england

Plus everyone in the UK hates Australians and students so you'd be double fucked and even the ugly girls are picky enough you'd be left to familiarise yourself with the frictional qualities of left and right palm stroke.

Friend of Mine went to Leeds, the nightlife was pretty good, as evidenced by his failing of the second year.

I would stay away from the UK if you can go to the states, the universities over here are causing a shitstorm right now over fees (which honestly will still cost less than the US), but I wouldn't really wanna be a student in the UK right now.

Yesterday was a shameful day to be British. Also, the girls in the UK will never even hold a candle to those in the US.

You think English girls are ugly, you should see the guys!

Seriously though, wtf? There're hotties both sides of the pond. I call rose-tinted-glasses and/or grass-is-always-greener shenanigans. :-)

Edit: I also don't go for the "everyone hates australians" point. Right now isn't a good time to be a student, but he's applying in 2012. Hopefully we wont still be protesting by then. :-P

Regarding tuition fees, I pay local fees to my uni, I don't have to pay the uni I go to. But regardless I was leaning towarda USA. Looks like that's a good idea.

As an english student, i think you'll generally find that american girls are hotter because A) there are more of them to choose from, and B) English girls are mostly pale with the exception of those that slap on fake tan, due to the weather. In terms of fees, if he's paying aussie rate fees then that discounts that argument, but the truth is none of the English unis on that list are anywhere near impressive enough to necessitate missing an opportunity to spend a year of college in the US

Can't say anything about which uni to pick, but I will say pick a US one! (Speaking as an aussie)

The US college system is way more fun if you're doing an exchange. The US system seems to have way more of a 'community' feel than the Australian system (and I expect the UK system since our are very similar). It's probably due to the fact that people live on campus first year. which means way more parties and fun things to do (especially since if you're doing an exchange you'll probably get to live on campus).

I'm hell jealous that my brother is getting a full ride at Penn State, I spent some time their last summer and it was sweet.

Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Ranked 16 or so. I went there, class of '06. Insanely hot (rich) girls that are also very smart. Work hard play hard mentality. Nashville is a very fun city, and I say that having grown up in Manhattan.

Hahaha.

Actually I just realised I won't be 21. That's not too much of a problem is it, or should I delay it till 2013?

That is a consideration. DC (George Washington and Georgetown) and Austin (U of Texas) are both very interesting cities and excellent places for young adults. However, I dont know how much that would be negated by not being 21 (or at least not having a passable ID). University of Texas is one of the biggest in the country and so you might still be able to socially get by solely within the university community. If you do decide to make the trip while not yet 21, your best choice would be to go to one of the ones that are small enough that the university population pretty much defines the town. This will also be relevent if spending money is a factor - your money will go a lot further in a "college town" than in a city like DC that would thrive even without its student population. As someone else mentioned, Wisconsin fits the bill very well, but it's Wisconsin, and if you miss their 7 days of summer you wont find many scantily clad women or much use of a beach.

What are you studying? For American schools, I'd say most of those are okay except for the state schools (University of ...), though the following "University of..." schools are okay, depending on your major: Wisconsin-Madison, Pennsylvania (this one is actually Ivy League), maybe Washington, California depends on which one (Berkeley is the best). I'm not really a big fan of Purdue, Case Western, or Emory, but they're okay and I'm an elitist.

I'm an American who spent a week in London a few months ago. The girls are definitely less attractive there, the exception being the non-white ones (mostly). I saw a lot of pasty looking white girls smoking and wearing trendy looking clothing, with faces that left much to be desired.

Tourist london isn't a particularly good representation, and I'm not particularly interested in tans.

Anyway, this is a silly conversation. All the more English girls for me! ;-)
