Seriously? Brooklyn has consistently been a sell out every time Rip comes your way. It consistently sells out months before Rip comes your way. Historically, many people sign up.

Does that answer your question?

If it doesn't, I'll answer it by saying: you'd better sign up before it sells out.

Just asking to see any existing members have signed up or future ones planning to. This could be the kick off thread. Anyway, I'm planning to make the deposit as soon as I collect enough Christmas money. Thanks.

Gunk may need to see if there are any forum undesirables heading there before committing.

It's only 1/2 sold, so there are plenty of spots left.

Heard SBWC moved or is in the process. I'm assuming the seminar will be at the new location.

Yes, the new location will be easier to find and more central to Brooklyn proper. It's also a better layout so less chances of beheadings when people let go of the bar during a power clean. When Paulie gets us the new address, we'll get it up and mapped.

I concur. The view was beautiful, and fairway was deliciously close.

If I may inquire, what prompted the move?

You could inquire. To Paulie. But if I may inquire, why do you want to know?

Fair enough.

Was asking mainly to sate my curiosity. If it's a private matter then it's no business of mine, which I understand, but figured I'd ask.

We moved because I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated space for Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting that is over 3x larger than the Red Hook space. We are only 3 blocks away from the Union St subway stop and only 7 blocks away from the Atlantic Terminal. That means we are accessible by just about every major subway line AND the Long Island Rail Road. I do agree that the view was outstanding and Fairway was very close but those two things don't pay the bills.

vxmorpheusxv, does that mean I'll be seeing you at my gym on a regular basis now?

Still a bit off for regular visits where I live, but I'll definitely be stopping in from time to time now ^.^

The water and Fairway may be missed, but the new location is near the subway which is a huge boon for the gym and those NY'ers who want to get there easily (i.e., w/o a car)...

Bonus is that it's pretty close to BareBurger. Not walking distance for the lunch hour due to time constraints, but worth checking out. Jeremy, Michele and I frequently hit it post-workout. All grass-fed beef, plus elk, bison and lamb options. Get a extra patty burger for $5 and you are looking at around a pound of meat. And the milk shakes are awesome. That place rocks.

Definitely have a lot of options for post-seminar drinks too.

Even closer (good for lunch) is Bierkraft, which has a ridiculous selection of beers and the best sandwiches you'll find - they also do paleo specials on the weekend for those who are so inclined. Across the street is Fleisher's butcher shop with kickass rotisserie chicken, roast beef, cheese, etc. And there are loads of other restaurants to suit your fancy

We can make the necessary arrangements.

From the information posted on with the sold out seminars:
SOLD OUT. If a spot opens up due to an unavoidable or catastrophic event, its availability will be announced through our Twitter news feed (https://twitter.com/#%21/SS_strength)

We do not keep "waiting lists" as they end up being lists of people who like to sign up for lists. A notice going up when there is an actual opening allows people who are actually interested in attending to actually sign up.

I have just secured a great block rate at a hotel directly across the street from the South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club. If you are attending the seminar next month and are in need lodging, you can contact the Fairfild Inn & Suites by Mariott at 718-522-4000. Just mention the South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club. The rates are $129 per night for a single king and $139 per night for two double beds. The booking deadline is 5 April, 2012.

For those of you coming in from Long Island, NJ, or CT, you may want to consider booking a room for Sat night. The turn around from Sat night to Sun morning is tight and you'll definitely get a lot more rest if you are staying so close to the gym.

Cheers,

Paulie
