Andy, thanks for doing this forum.

Just read thru your comments here and it seems apparent that goals are extremely important. I'm 10 weeks into TM and enjoying it. I'm not a competitive lifter. Ultimately, I want to be strong and injury free getting there. Injury free meaning no surgeries. Dings and sprains, ok. But I've yet to put certain weight goals down.

Do you have general goal setting advice/parameters for clients who don't compete? Are the following all around
good and adequate goals?

Squat 2x body weight
DL 2x body weight
Press body weight
Bench 1.5 x body weight
Clean 1.5 x body weight

Thanks for your time!

Those all seem reasonable goals. Hit em and then see where you want to take it from there.

Bodyweight is usually a goal for everyone and obviously for squat/dead we go up from there (substantially). My clients often like "plate goals". I want to bench 2 plates on the bar (225 lbs). I want to squat with 3 plates (315). Deadlift 4 (405), etc etc.

Some clients, after reaching their goals, like to go up and keep progressing....I have others who have reached a certain weight and are ok with staying there for years at a time. Philippe is a client of mine who has been with me for about 4 years. His goal was a 250 squat, we got it, and now he just does it for reps....every monday he comes in and squats 250 x 10. I think he's 55, so that isnt bad for him.
