I know the standard TM approach to deadlifts is to reduce reps as the difficulty increases. I tried this and it didn't really help. Of course I was able to continue to add weight for a little while, but the end result did not imply a larger 1RM.
When I was doing 5/3/1 I did a set of 10 at 315 pretty easily - implying something like a 420. This is 20+ pounds more than my best single. The funny thing was that I recovered from this easily, but my 405 attempt that I couldn't quite lockout jacked my up for quite a while.
I was wondering if you have encountered this. Was also wondering if it might be worth trying to *increase* DL reps as it gets more difficult instead of decreasing them. Of course that would go along with an aggressive reset. Wendler has said that he is able to increase his max DL with high rep sets.
