Hi Andy,
From an older post on one of these fora, I've seen a video of you doing bottom-start squats from the pins. I've done these a bit myself and have found that it's imperative to hit your proper groove immediately or the lift is either lost, or you wind up pitching forward onto your toes, turning the effort into a labor of Sisyphean nature.
I've recently taken to doing them top-down, but with a significant pause at the bottom on the pins, allowing all bar momentum to dissipate before standing. This method allows for hitting the groove 100% of the time, but unlike a pure dead-start, allows for some tension in the squatting muscles before standing.
Was just curious as to your thoughts of the paused-from-the-top method versus the dead-start-from-the bottom.
Thanks!
