Program:
Spend the day learning the theory and practice
of the deadlift and power clean with Starting Strength Coaches Josh Wells and Shelley Hancock. The session will begin with a lecture focused on the basics of each movement and will include a discussion of the anatomy and forces at work. We will then move into a practical session with plenty of time under the bar for all the participants. Participants will have an opportunity to put into practice the concepts addressed in the lecture while receiving coaching through their warm up and work sets. Through the entire process, attendees will learn the hallmarks of a properly executed pulls and how they should look and feel when performed correctly. After the practical session, we will return for a discussion of programming and how to identify and correct common technical problems. The camp will wrap up with a question and answer session. Whether you are just starting out with strength training, struggling with the basics of the lifts, or looking to polish your technique and understanding of these movements, you will come away with valuable insights and experience to benefit your training. Attendance will be capped at twelve to allow for individualized instruction.

Proper weightlifting shoes are highly recommended and if participants have weightlifting belts, they are encouraged to bring them.

Josh, consider kicking somebody out of the camp, so I can join in the fun.

Just an idea. Hehe. But seriously, hope a spot opens.

Josh,

I'm signed up for the May 12th camp and am psyched. Do I need to do anything prior or just show up on Saturday?

Thanks for organizing it!

Chris

Just wanted to post up what a fantastic camp Josh and Shelley ran on Saturday. I thought I was okay on the DL (and took the camp primarily for cleans): I was wrong.

Shelley and Josh gave excellent, specific feedback on every aspect of my DL, clarified some significant misconceptions I had and provided simple, effective kinesthetic cues by which I can monitor and adjust technique. They then used the DL position to complete the same steps with the power clean. I feel much more confident in performing these lifts and am excited to apply this new knowledge to my training. Josh and Shelley bring the same authentic, earned expertise for which Rip and SS are revered, not to mention a welcome dose of humor, fun and Southern sensibilities. I really enjoyed the session.

To the CF212 crew: thanks for the hospitality. I felt super welcomed as a non-member and am completely jealous of your stacked facility.

If anyone out there is on the fence about signing up for a camp, don't be. It's cheap at twice the price and you won't be disappointed.
