My coach, Tamara, has been nagging me for a while to start a log. I have resisted because I could not imagine anyone caring what a 48kg woman can lift. She is relentless, however, and I gave in. I started lifting last year while still crossfitting I finally quit crossfit this past March to exclusively lift and train 5-6 days a week. When I started training with Tamara last year (after already doing crossfit for two years) my snatch was 22kg, clean 30kg, jerk 34 kg, front squat 34kg, back squat 50kg. Fast forward to today...snatch 40kg (soooo close to 41), clean 47kg, jerk 46kg, front squat 53kg, back squat 62kg. I have no athletic background and this is the most competitive I have ever been. I was a ballet dancer all through childhood and college and still teach. I am extremely limber from my days as a ballerina and Tamara often worries that my ass is actually going to touch floor on lifts or that my back is going snap.
I am a 35 year old mother of a 4.5 year old.
I am a competitive masters lifter.
I weigh 48kg and am 5'1"
I have been exclusively lifting for one year.
I did crossfit for almost 3 years.

41...miss. My pubic bone was throbbing at this point. I hit it yesterday while snatching for a pr. Although I don't hit my pubic bone while cleaning, I keep the bar so close to my body that even brushing the bar near that area was painful.

Ha, good one. As Yonkyo said there certainly are people who care what you're lifting. Personally I'm amazed how high your clean is WRT your squat!

My clean is very limited my elbows...I tend to not let go of the bar and my ekbows don't get up fast enough. As a result, I get stuck at the bottom trying to push my elbows up to stand. Many times my elbows hit my knees.

Damn my hands are killing me! Straps for sure next time. I almost never deadlift. Of the few times I injured myself at crossfit, each time involved deadlifts. I am pleased...this is not far from my clean grip deadlift pr (155#...I think).

I am amazed that I was able to stand up the 43 and 44. My elbows were not even close to being where they were supposed to be!

Um. You left out your miss due to your bar misload. These things are funny. You must include them.
Also, yes, it's almost like cardio because it takes extra typing, but write out your reps with the number of reps all the way down.
So, 3x60 for DL instead of everyone just assuming that you did triples the whole way...which you did...

What's wrong with us? How do we manage to misload a bar so often? My last set of squats last night was wrong. When I noticed it I was too tired and lazy to fix it. Besides, squatting a few extra lbs doesn't seem like a bad thing.

You missed 39 kg four times before you missed 40.
Don't squat 50 for doubles. Bulgaria says it's too light.

This week I have dedicated to really working on my clean form. I feel like my clean progress has stalled. Since I hit 40kg snatch yesterday, Zach suggested I snatch up to 35kg so I can spend a lot of time on my cleans.

Don't drop down like that. If you WERE going to drop down, you would need to drop down to 35 to begin with. Missing 3 times at 1 kg above your PR and then dropping down to 1 kg below your PR is not a recipe for success. Remember, you may miss 70% of your attempts at 95% of max. Dropping to 98% of max really doesn't count as dropping down. It just means you're going to end up very pissed off.

1x32 pressed...beyond ugly. i don't understand how this mockery of a lift is helping me in any way. if there is a way to destroy a power snatch, i think i have found it.
Okay, all of this is going to end.
The point of power snatching for you is to help you finish your pull. When you are doing all of this bewildering starfish mockery, it's not meeting the goal. The point is not to keep trying to make an ugly lift pretty. It's to figure out what you can legitimately power snatch - pulling high and catching high and keeping everything snappy.
Your next power snatch session will look like this:
2 x 20 kg
2 x 25 kg
1 x 26 kg
1 x 27 kg
1 x 28 kg
1 x 29 kg
1 x 30 kg
If you miss anything under 30 kg, you get a second shot. If you miss 30 kg, you're done.
I know you don't like these, but there are lots of things that I don't like in weightlifting either. Your full snatch is your strength, but when you start missing, sometimes it is simply because you are so good at getting under the bar that you never finished your pull.
I also know that you don't think you've done enough work when you power snatch, but there is about to be a crack down on the amount of volume that people are doing. People are doing way too many reps, and that is not the point.
If I am power snatching to 60, then my workout looks like this:

And, that's my workout. There are times when I skip 35 and times when I skip 58, and that makes it even shorter.

I'm sure they forgave you. You need to remember that sometimes when life gets hard or we're stressed, it carries over to your gym performance. In these cases, it's best to accept your misses and just be proud that you WENT and TRIED. We like to gauge everything by numbers, but most of the time that isn't the important part. Growth as a person and an athlete is far more impressive than the number of plates that go on the bar. You're doing an awesome job. Have fun and try not to get frustrated. Oh, and keep posting funny stuff in your log. =)

lifting was the highlight of my day. later in the day i rear ended someone...there was absolutely no damage to my car and the bumper of the car i hit was knocked slightly off. it was a company car so the other person had to call their safety inspector to take pics of the (minimal) damage. they had to call the police as well. after 35 minutes of intense deliberation (note sarcasm) the officer wrote me a ticket...$240 dollars! if get my insurance company to write a letter that the damages were paid then the ticket will be dropped. from there i went to my car dealer because my car was making a loud noise...like a propeller plane. turns out i need new wheel bearings...$675!!! two weeks ago i had to get a new axel and brakes, which set me back about $500. good fucking times. and i'm eating clean and not drinking right now. even better fucking times...

It was great to see you happy in the gym last night! You looked strong and confident. I am still confused about the flurry of toes to bar and planking going on at the end of the evening. You did so many toes to bar I thought I was in a crossfit class for a second there. But no one was throwing up, so I guess not.

took a few days off for travel and christmas. rested my shoulder and felt ready to lift today. i went to a crossfit here (in florida). i am not sure whether my bar was 33 or 35, so my numbers may be 2 less. the owner/coach woman laughed at my pre-lift start routine. i lifted heavier than her, so she can go on laughing...

this week i did not snatch or back squat because of my shoulder. i went to the doctor and he said that my muscles are very loose, flexible, so my shoulder slides around in its socket more than the average person. i am going to be starting pt to strengthen the muscles in my shoulder. i start next week. it has been getting better with rest.
