Kick ass at the meet....but take care of the leg!
I'd gladly sacrifice 100-200 lbs of my total for half a foot in height (and I'd still be shorter than you). You do realize that, unless I have some special martial arts knowledge of which even I'm not aware, you could kick my ass in the real world?
Chris, thanks for the well wishes. I'm nervous given the recent injury as well as the fact that both times I've gone 600+ on the squat in the past I've gotten injured. I want to be cautious and smart without being a pussy. Like walking a tightrope.
9/11 (weighed in at 214.5, didn't cut and ate a lot before weigh-ins, knee sleeves only)
Squat - 242.5 (535) 3 whites, 260 (570) 3 whites, 272.5 (601) 3 whites and PR
Bench - 172.5 (380) 3 whites, 185 (408) 3 whites, 190 (419) 3 whites and meet PR
Deadlift - 295 (650) 3 whites, 320 (705.5) 3 whites and PR, 327.5 (722) 2 reds for soft knees and will have vid later...gym PR??? Call might have been right...maybe not...you judge. I truly don't know.
--PR total of 1725.2. Excellent meet. Judging was super strict and commands were slow (perhaps overly so). Will post some vids tomorrow. Goggins put on the meet and is really cool. Got an invite to his pro invitational meet at the end of October, so will consider that. Sold on the USPA at this point.
Fantastic! And how was the leg - I assume as you haven't mentioned it it wasn't a real problem?
I agree with Herbison - that sounds like a great meet to do if you can stay (relatively) healthy!
Your performance at that meet is really impressive, especially considering your injuries and the strict judging.
Congrats on hitting meet PRs in all three lifts.
I'm really glad to see you succeed doing what you feel is right for you and not what everybody else does in programing and training.
You're an experienced lifter and I really appreciate the opportunity to learn by reading your log!
Congratulations, Kyle. I read your log from the beginning; thank you for sharing your experiences. Awesome stuff, and you're a strong-ass dude. Reading your log has been very motivating.
Great job - strong!
