    4/28/15
    Squat 330x5, 250x8, 250x8, 250x8
    Bench 215x5, 162.5x8, 162.5x8, 162.5x8
    Deadlift 380x5, 290x8

    5/1/15
    Squat 335x5, 255x8, 255x8, 255x8
    Bench 217.5x5, 165x8, 165x8, 165x8
    Deadlift 385x5, 295x8

Crushed it today. I really like this program. Just a simple linear progression with more recovery time. Pretty soon I'm going to be breaking some rep records. Every thing feel sharp and quick. Lady friend is complaining though cause my weight is creeping up. ~230ish now. I would recommend this program to anyone who has only 2 days a week and wants to really pound the weights. Gotta eat though.

    5/5/15
    Squat 340x5, 260x8, 260x8, 260x8
    Bench 220x5, 165x8, 165x8, 165x8
    Deadlift 390x5, 295x8

So I may sound dumb by saying this but basically what I am seeing in my lifting is a novice LP that I've managed to string out a little more by going 2 days a week. Not sure how much longer I can keep this up but I'm going to do everything in my power to make it last as long as I can cause its nice to watch the weights go up every workout. I was just on BB.com looking at their programs and plans and I kept thinking to myself why are all these so damn complicated and why do all the coaches/trainers look very skinny and/or on gear? Very strange website.

    Bench 225x5, 170x8, 170x8, 170x8
Deadlift 405x5 Failed. Only got 4 reps. Felt very lethargic and not very into it. It may be time to move on from a linear periodization. Might try again on Saturday but I think I'm going to hire someone one to do my programming. I will keep you updated.

I am back. I've decided to resurrect my log. I have been doing a pencil and paper log the whole time and haven't quit lifting.
I'm currently getting ready for an AAU meet on Aug 20th. I'll be in the 242 weight division. Here are my current stats

    Age 31
    Height 5'10"
    Weight 230lbs

    Current Lifts
    Squat
    1RM: 460
    5RM: 405
    5x5RM: 375
    Bench
    1RM: 285
    5RM: 245
    5x5RM: 230
    Deadlift:
    1RM: 510
    5RM: 440

So what I am doing now for lifting is the Madcow Advanced template. Basically what it is a month of increasing loading followed by a reduction in volume leading to a peak. Confused? Follow this link... Bill Starr - Glenn Pendlay 5x5 - Periodized Version, Dual Factor Theory It's also very similar to the pyramid program in the 3rd Edition of Practical Programming.

Looks like this for me in practice

    Monday
    Squat 5x5
    Bench 1x5 (5x5 Ascending)
    Row 1x5 (5x5 Ascending)

    Wednesday
    Front Squat 1x5 (5x5 Ascending)
    Deadlift 1x5 (5x5 Ascending)
    CGBP Paused 5x5

    Friday
    Squat 1x5 (5x5 Ascending)
    Bench 5x5
    Row 5x5

I also do some assistance stuff, whatever I feel like on the day. I also pick the weights for the compound exercises on the fly, trying to peak on weeks 3 and 4 like the link talks about. Hopefully I can stick to posting on here and will be able to get some videos and stuff for you. First day of this cycle starts Monday.

    Squat 425x1 (RPE:8.5), 340x5, 340x5, 340x5, 340x5, 340x5
    Bench 255x1 (RPE: 7.5 Felt very very easy), 180x5, 190x5, 205x5, 215x5, 225x5
    Row 135x5, 135x5, 135x5
    Lat Pulldowns 3x10
    Weighted Situps 3x10
    Hyper-Extensions 3x10

Ran out of time for Rowing and accessories. Also I added a heavy single in front of the 5x5. Something I picked up from an old coach. Going to try it out and see how it works moving forward.

    2ct Pause Sq 315x1 (RPE: 6) 205x5, 225x5, 245x5, 265x5, 275x5
    Deadlift 435x1 (RPE: 7) 325x5, 345x5, 365x5, 385x5, 405x5

Then teriyaki etc. for the Godzilla (Teriyaki Beef, Chicken and Pork on top of rice.) Come at me bro.

    Squat 405x1, 435x1 (RPE:8.5), 245x5, 275x5, 315x5, 345x5, 365x5 8565lbs
    Bench 245x1 (RPE: 7) 210x5, 210x5, 210x5, 210x5, 210x5 5495lbs
    Row 135x5, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 175x5 3875lbs
    Lat Pulldowns 3x10
    Cable Rows 3x10

Worked out at Northshore YMCA today. Not my favorite place in the world, but I made it work. Getting pretty excited for my next meet in Aug. I think I'm going to squat 500. I am creeping into PR territory with my warmup singles. Goal for this cycle for the squat is 1x5 @ 425 and 5x5 @ 405. Also it's always nice to lift on the weekends, then I don't have to go back to work and act like I am working for the rest of the day. I can just veg out at home instead.

    Squat 405x1, 445x1 (RPE:8.5), 360x5, 360x5, 360x5, 360x5, 360x5
    Bench 265x1 (RPE: 8.5), 195x5, 205x5, 215x5, 225x5, 235x5
    Row 135x5, 145x5, 155x5, 155x5, 155x5

Squats wiped me out. Not sure I can continue with the singles before the 5x5. 445 was very easy. Creeping up on lifetime pr of 460 as well as the 285 bench pr. Should be breaking them soon. Goal 5x5 squat for this accumulation block is 400 5x5. Then start the taper for meet Aug 20th. Meet goals are Sq 500, Bench 300, DL 550.

    2ct Pause Sq 325x1 (RPE: 6) 225x5, 245x5, 265x5 - Was supersetting these with the deadlifts and I quit after I missed 425x5.
    Deadlift 455x1 (RPE: 7) 315x5, 335x5, 345x5, 385x5, 425x5 (Failed 425, only got 4) I think the singles are taking too much energy.
    CGBP 205x5, 205x5, 185x5, 185x5, 185x5

Kind of bummed. Not a very good workout. Got the first 4 at 425 but the 5th I got out of position and got it above the knees. Considered hitching it to get it but then decided otherwise. I'm going to drop the singles in front of the 5x5's. Just too much I think and I want to set PR 5x5 in the coming weeks. Good news is the singles are very easy.
