Damn that's strong work!
Thanks, Jan!
Yeah... it is awful. I kinda want to ask to get it switched to SSB squats or something else, but I'm less than 6 weeks out now and don't want to change anything, plus I would only benefit from the change once. My low back is just smoked, so I just want a more upright squat variation. AMRAP is good in that it's over quickly.
Luckily this only happens once per 3 weeks. It is the hardest workout for sure. Next week has wide stance squats in the same slot, but only 4 sets...actually a lot easier mentally. I don't measure resting HR anymore, but I can tell it has been elevated today and yesterday.
I will equalize you
BW (7/11 morning): 239.2#
BW (7/12 morning): 241.4#
Sleep (7/10 evening): Not sure
Sleep (7/11 evening): 3-4 hrs, in bed at 10:15 but heart was racing, couldn't sleep until after 1:30
TRAC: Drop 1 set
Heat index of 96 today. Like a sauna.

Felt like I was going to pass out after each set at 455. I think I've probably been underrating RPE on these before because they look fast. They feel much harder. Back rounding can creep in easily.

Pec felt fine. Triceps were hurting. Not sure if that's from starting to bench more or because of my squat grip.

Skipped reverse grip bench because I hate it and also I don't need to go completely nuts on bench volume just yet.
Yeah, it does. Would be easier with a monolift or hand off, but I'm not getting a monolift attachment just for that.

Slight hitch on the second rep of the first two sets at 440. Just need to be more patient, but I want to try and lock out aggressively too. On the last set, the bar landed on chains and shifted over an inch or two. Had to re-setup, kinda distracting and messed with my second rep.

Pec tendon feels a little sore from yesterday, so I skipped bench. Better to hold back at this point. Bench strength is decent enough right now, just need to stay healthy.
Overall just feel a bit beat up. Tough week of training. Left SI/glute kinda irritated right now, so I skipped SG SLDL yet again since that always makes it worse.
I wouldn't use it for regular bench because in competition you can't use one. And I'll probably self-unrack anyway since so many people complain about bad handoffs.
Would use it for slingshot work or reverse grip bench... just not worth it for that though, plus I'd have to have a place to store it, take time to set it up, etc. Trust me, I'd love an excuse to get a cool gym toy like that, but it just doesn't seem worthwhile.
Thanks, man!
I'm always kinda surprised more people don't take it out themselves given that you've probably never met the hand-off Guy / Gal in your life.
