And regarding feeling shitty, I guess I have adapted to it very well. I just take in some coffee and creatine and I'm good to wreck some shit (high volume and high intensity) even if I didn't backload the night before. Your best bet is to check your calories especially fat to make it sure that you are not starving yourself.
Also, when to backload is your call depending on how you feel or how you respond fat gain wise. Do it the night before (even sans training) if you want some energy for your session or do it after. It depends, your call. This is experimental shit.
