    We did 3x8 with everything.
I remember getting to 95 3x8, then systematically add 2 1/2s to each side ea week/workout.
I went from 95 to 125 like clockwork.
I remember doodling my workouts down on paper . . . and "doing the math" figuring by the end of the year I'd be doing some ridiculous weight (225?) for 3x8. . . .that I would a fucking beast. (add 5# per week/workout for all eternity )

LOL . . . it all stopped (of course) just shy of 135 by the end of the year.

High school bench press: all that mattered was that you could "workout" (3x8 everything) with at least 135# and weren't afraid to try 225#.

Squat: I do remember squatting a lot and I'm pretty certain I went to reasonable depth (I had a floor locker that I would always squat down to and recall being sore). Seems like I did a lot of 225# 3x8 with a manpoon and eyes at the ceiling. I wrote my workouts down, but I don't believe they were ever planned beyond chest/tris/shoulder, back/biceps and "legs". I power cleaned and did deficit SLDL in football. I'm sure both were ugly. In my mid thru late 20s, I lifted on a similar model to high school, though I think I did more work in the 10 rep range. I squatted, but not near as much as I should have. I think I really liked the California front squat back then. I also wore gloves and did cable crossovers.

Does having the bar this low protect the neck when you turn it like that?

Now that you've joined a new gym, you're gonna need a workout buddy, right?

Gymder is a weird app that'll help you find a 'workout buddy'

But hey at least they have great respect for the equipment!

That's how the one I go to in Phoenix looks like in the morning. I guess the bro's that work out at night never put anything away.

Those are nothing more than a variation of the press-in-clean. Go tell Greg Everett that low bar squats trains thoracic stability better.
