couch to 5K week 9 day 1: run 5k. great success. plodding at a 10:00 pace. Will probably continue this for a couple weeks then do time trials.

press
140x2
115x4,4,4,10
did a bunch of doubles of pullups in between. my head hurt during the presses. no good.
superset
incline DB press
35x2x10
row machine thing
45x2x15
things were oddly sparsely crowded in a way that made it hard to do what i wanted to do so i was like, screw it, these are the two options open to me. only two sets because my bus was coming.

drank a couple glasses of wine last night to relax and started feeling like crap. slept poorly, digestion was awful, woke up feeling like crap. dragged myself to the gym, had a short workout (better than nothing).
deadlift
395x2
315x3x4
skipped last set and assistance. still feel like crap.

running couch to 5K week 9 day 2 - run 5K (like 32min - up and down some long hills so it took a little bit). EDIT: going
to a conference for a few days, no training until back. working desperately to get my presentation done (namely, to get results for the presentation!)

Are you going to run a particular 5k race or just getting into shape?

just kind of getting in shape. Partly motivated by the fact that I liked walking home from the office as exercise when possible (and to the office if it was cool enough), which adds roughly 20 minutes to my commute, but if I'm willing to kill 20-40 minutes per day on a not terribly effective cardio perhaps I should instead do 30 minutes of actually effective exercise. Also everybody really ought to be able to plod along for half an hour.

week 9 day 3 (last one) of couch to 5K. run 5K
I'm probably just going to keep slowly plodding along for about half an hour 3x per week for at least the next few weeks.
Just got back from a conference, which is why no training the last few days. Good stuff, good times, great food. My presentation went okay.

bench
205x2
165x4,4,4,10
superset of
one hand db press
35x5x10
db row
90x5x5
then did
thumbless hammer kurlz
40x10
while there, saw a woman who was wearing an NPC Bikini competitor hoodie. way cool. as I was getting done, there was a guy who I presume was a student athlete - ripped and lean, like 195#, not huge on the upper body, did hang cleans with 225, then 250, then 275 for reps. wide stance, otherwise great form. Just a little flip and he was under the bar at rock bottom and then up standing up easy. Not sure what sport - not tall enough for basketball, probably not big enough for football. Could be a sprinter?
