    9/5/16:

    Squats: 200 3x5 RPE 8.5
200 3x5 was a really satisfying milestone today.

    Press: 67.5 3x5 RPE 9
YAYYYYYYY FINALLY! Smiling like an idiot after these.

Skipped rows today, trying to spare R AC. Rows tend to be the exercise that aggravates it.

    Pulldowns (underhanded): 1x10x100, 4x10x90

Circuit: 30 sec on, 30 sec off
    Lunges
    KB Swings (35lb)
    Situps
    4 rounds - 12 min

I like the timed interval circuits. For whatever reason I find them "fun" enough not to notice that I'm out of breath and want to pass out by the end.

Discovery of the day: I recently started using our wedding reception playlist as my gym playlist (I made a BALLER playlist, seriously it may be the thing I am most proud of in terms of wedding planning). Today, fortuitous timing led to the absolute best one-two punch in terms of songs to squat to: "Baby Got Back" followed by "Low". So good. So many lyrics about butts.

    9/8/16:

    Squat: 185 3x5 RPE 7.5

    Bench: 92.5 5x3 RPE 9
Lots of shoulder warmups, and stretching after. Pain has been intermittent the last week or so, mild...not getting worse, but not getting better either. Felt fine during these, a little inflamed after.

    Deadlift: 240 1x5 RPE 8.5
Felt smooth, but video makes it look like I'm lacking a bit of extension during setup, maybe.

    Circuit: 6 rounds each
    10x ring rows
    10x lunges

Matt has all his trainees testing maxes this week. Next session I'll work up to heavy singles on bench and press, then the next time squat and deads. Excited!

    9/10/16:

Max testing weekend!!! Today was press and bench, tomorrow I'll do squats and deadlift.

    Press: 1x70, 1x75, 1x77.5, 1x80, 1x81

Very happy with these! Previous PR (set at last year's Fall Classic) was 75, so a 6lb PR. Had some serious trap spasms by the 4th and 5th attempts so decided to stop at 81 and not go til failure.

    Bench: 1x95, 1x97.5, 1x100, 1x102.5, 0x105

Would have liked to get 105, but pretty stoked to get into the triple digits at all. Previous PR (last October, I think) was 97.5, so a 5lb PR.

Feeling happy with these, especially considering Feb-May I wasn't really training anything upper body at all due to Shouldermageddon.

Excited for squats and deads tomorrow!

    9/11/16:

Max testing day 2. Man I love heavy singles. This was just so fun. Great weekend.

    Squats: 1x215, 1x220, 1x225, 1x230, 1x235

Pleasantly surprised at how easy these felt. Should have gone up by 10 instead of 5 -- I absolutely had more to go but after 5 progressively heavier singles I was getting fatigued and didn't want to fuck myself over for deadlifts.

    Deadlift: 1x250, 1x260, 1x270, 1x275, 1x280

Similar story here, could have been more ambitious. 275 felt terrible, much worse than the next attempt at 280, but I think my set-up was just weird.

That's a 27.5lb PR for squats and a 15lb PR for deadlift. In the grand scheme of things, my third squat attempt at last year's Fall Classic was 175lbs, so this is a 60lb increase! Super duper pleased. Currently enjoying celebratory pizza and and a fresh-hopped IPA.

Next stop: 1.5x bodyweight squat and 300 deadlift! And, like, upper body strength.

    Yeah!!!! PR City!

I think 300 pull is coming soon. 280 looked like cake.

    So so good Annie!!!

Those "max" lifts are SO NOT MAX. No grind to speak of. You've got 300 at the meet, I have no doubt. Can't wait to see what you do on the platform in October!!!

Thanks guys! I'm kind of over the moon after this weekend.

    9/13/16:

Today I was accidentally super matchy-matchy. I guess orange and blue are my colors?

    Squat: 185 3x5 RPE 7

    Press: 70 3x5 RPE 9

SO HAPPY TO GET ALL OF THESE WITH MINIMAL GRIND!!

Pendlay Rows: 105 1x5 then stopped due to shoulder pain. I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong, or if it's just too explosive on the joint and is just jamming shit together, but heavy rows have been really aggravating my AC. Warm-ups at lighter weights don't seem to hurt it. Asked Matt for a replacement exercise, for the time being. Ugh.

    Pulldowns (underhanded): 3x10x100, 2x10x100

Circuit: 30 sec on 30 sec off
    4 rounds -
    KB swings (35lb)
    lunges
    situps

I'm back in rehearsal/training with my theater group every night this week and next, so my level of fatigue may go up a bit. I did somersaults yesterday for the first time in like six months and woke up feeling like I'd been beaten up, heh. Bring on the mystery bruises!
