Brilliant. Linked to another forum where I play, which is stocked with folks of Peg's age and presumed starting ability ... who make all the usual excuses.

Great video. Wish the video would have gotten into her condition a bit more and just how barbell training has helped her condition. I watched the video at work so maybe I missed some details ...

    starting strength coach development program
As much as Starting Strength is seen by some as a primer for young men who's bodies are just begging to get stronger, I think this video shows the real power of the program. I started off in my late 30's morbidly obese (5'10"/>350 lbs) and had a moment where I realized I was going to die early if I continued. So I focused for a few years on dropping weight.

But then (40's) when I started to approach 200 lbs, I realized that, although I can walk without sweating/huffing, I still had the body of an 'old man'. So after seeing SS pimped on Instapundit weekly I broke down and ordered it. My first post here was a 'Help, I can't possibly squat' post that I wish I could go back and remove... I'm still a novice/novice (SQ 195, DL 225, BP 185) but I was thrilled to be able to say I could squat my bodyweight and still am sailing along at 5 or 10 lb increments. My bad left knee doesn't seem so bad anymore and I feel about 5 years younger. I can't wait to see what if feels like after another 8,16,24 weeks.

If every single person over 40 in this country spent only 6 months doing SS, I'm pretty sure it would do more for "health costs" than anything the politicians in D.C. or the self-appointed 'health guru's' could do.

I'm just into it about 8 weeks, but I am already beginning to feel like a functioning human being. I joke around with people sometimes and say "Dr. Atkins made me human again, Rippetoe is making me feel like a man again."
