"The Iron and the Soul" is full of great quotes.

When I see guys working out for cosmetic reasons, I see vanity exposing them in the worst way, as cartoon characters, billboards for imbalance and insecurity.

I hope for some new T shirts with some of these quotes.

My first purchase would be Jordan's

“It always feels heavy. You just get stronger.”

Today was my first day of squatting 315, triple plates for 3 sets of 5. It was brutally difficult with some form flaws, but I made it. I was just thinking there is no way I can add 5 more pounds to the bar next heavy squat. That Paul Horn quote was exactly what I needed for that mental boost. As always, thanks a ton Rip.

I'm not very bright. Could someone tell me what Mr. Jim Wendler meant? Did he fight a bear for his lunch? Metaphor for heavy squat/DL?

I'm (eventually) have this one made based off this comment:

Way to go, Heavyiron8! I'm rehabbing a ripped out ACL and a torn MCL and am only back up to 125 lb squats and 315 seems way out of reach. You are an inspiration, yourself!

I'd like to add that to the vernacular here, hat tip to Tom and Paul, I think it sums things up nicely.

"It’s just a bar, it’s just a piece of machined steel, it can’t check your heart rate or tell you how many calories you’ve burned, there’s no headphone jack, no magazine holder, and it won’t charge your phone.

    It's just a bar.

But. If you know how to use it.

    It can change your life."

I think he means an exercise where you crawl like a bear. Used as a conditioning exercise. We sometimes do them at my Kickboxing class. But not up a hill!
I love the Rollins piece his quote comes from.
