    Quick question: should we squeeze our glutes upon locking out the squat/at the top? I've seen another post suggesting not to, but you appear to in your videos as do many other starting strength coaches. Any downside to doing it / not doing it?

    OP's post reminds me of seeing one of your young trainee's videos--violent, bar-rattling lockout. Strong as hell kid.

    I agree that locking out the knees makes sense. But you appear to be squeezing your glutes in this video (though only you can say for certain): Mark Rippetoe: Coach Rip Squats 315x10 - YouTube
