    Default Current shoe recommendation?

    Rip,

I'm currently using a 10-year-old pair of Do-Wins. They aren't close to wearing out (and doubt they ever will) but I've long thought they might be a little too big to provide ideal support. I'd also like to try something with a slightly lower heel to get my knees farther back.

    So what's good out there?

    Thanks,

    GN

I'm not familiar with this year's shoe selection. We'll ask.

I am currently quite happy with a pair of leather upper, wood sole, custom made set from Risto.

That said, was not really happy with the non-disclosed long wait (5 months) nor the lack of warranty when a seam pulled out after the first month (I was told the 10 day return policy was the warranty).

If you can find the Nike Romaleo 2, it is an excellent shoe.

While not of as high quality as the previous recommendations, for a discounted price $65.00, you can get the SABO GYMs, which come with a 0.6" heel and a colour scheme befitting of a black iron training environment (i.e. not orange). I had mine a couple of years before one of the eyelets tore out, and I bought a new pair just recently. So, depending on your budget and inclinations, I'd recommend them, but Tom's suggestion is undoubtedly a better built shoe.

The build quality is beyond reproach- no doubt there. But half inch heels are so much greater than the higher heel height of the Romaleos. Too bad Rogue discontinued the half inch shoes. Fabulous shoes for the price.

Nike or Adidas. You might consider eBay, a lot of models available there.

Don't buy the Leistungs unless you intend to burn them.

FYI, if the material is not torn open, eyelets can be replaced with larger ones. My cobbler added eyelets to my Do-Wins, and one needed to be larger. See the second from the top.
