Overpriced whiskey or rare gem?

I walked into my local liquor store today and snatched the last bottle of buffalo trace off the shelf. They had twenty bottles of eagle rare but they only get the buffalo trace once a month. At $26.65 I think it is a great value. As I was grabbing it I saw a bottle of Orphan Barrel rhetoric 23 year old. Somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind I remember the name but the price tag puts me off. It is over $100. Blanton's is only $60. Am I a fool for passing 'this bottle up? I see online that secondary market has it for double what I saw it. What's so special?
