    Thanks MazdaMatt,

I just read your message after having not been here in a few months. You're right about the book. I'm going to have to take a month off lifting for double inguinal hernia repair, so I swallowed my pride and sent for the book on Amazon to read during recovery.

Thanks again for being a sane person

I'm a forum newbie & wasn't sure if I had stepped into a saloon, brothel, massive donnybrook, insane asylum, Rippetoe orgy, or all combined. Gravitating here after doing SL 5x5 (and x3), then going Madcow I had made significant progress (at least in my own mind). Even with Mehdi's shortcomings (not unique), and closing the forum, I wrote him a thanks. He edited it, but the thanks is real. I'm not necessarily a cheap bastard, but the SS book still seems priced high and someone stole the copy from our local library, so SL became my basic program. But my purpose in writing this is that after having reviewed the old thread about SL I wanted to thank you for being cogent, rational, and sober. I'm still trying to find my way around -- reading your posts has given me hope that had initially faded. So Thanks.
  3. Grumpy, the most important thing in my experience for eliminating that issue is clamping your abs HARD. Like, uncomfortably hard. You can't overextend/tilt while you're doing that.
    Cheers,
    Matt

Matt-- this is taken from another thread that I noticed you posted in and I'm interested in your advice!

(Regarding too much of an anterior pelvic tilt during squats) I actually have this problem as well, where being a long skinny guy I have a lot of flexibility with my spine/pelvis, and I can tilt it anterior(ly?) and create a big arch in my low back. During squats, I find it very difficult to tighten my lower back (like rippetoes superman position) without having this happen. I've been trying to keep my low back flat rather than arched but I am not sure how back angle changes relative to this. Could you elaborate on what helped you the most to overcome this issue?

    Thanks!!
