Are the calories in alcohol beneficial for putting on mass? I like drinking a whole bottle of wine with dinner sometimes. Has no noticeable negative effects on me the next day.

Given ethanol's affect on muscle directly and indirectly, sleep architecture, and hydration status- probably not beneficial at that amount for gainzZz.

Would it be better if it was a bottle whiskey instead?

So, what about, say, 2 beers a night. Won't be enough alcohol to mess with sleep or dehydrate you, but would dump a ton of carb-heavy calories into your system?

I think the negative affects on the liver of whiskey negates the negative affects of oxandralone. i.e. two negatives make a positive ;-)

Alcohol is not "carb heavy", but 2 drinks per night isn't > what has been shown to be somewhat beneficial either.

OK, maybe not "carb heavy", but beer is more carb than anything else right?

Alcohol reduces the body's ability to burn fat as far as I know.

You could make the argument the metabolism is more similiar to a lipid, but it really doesn't matter other than semantics IMO.

It reduces the body's ability to burn any energy source while it prioritizes the body's clearance of the toxin.
