HI Jordan, I've been trying to run the ss program while I've been winding down on a long weight loss/recomp. I've been getting by on protein shakes with oats, milk and peanut butter, giving me about 2000 calories per day and 250ish grams of protein. I've lost 140 pounds going from 374 to 234 over a couple of years. Started with a 56 inch gut and have gone down to 38.6 so far. Problem is the weights are grinding and I want to keep progressing. Currently squatting 250, benching 247.5,pressing 145 and deadlifting 335 all for fives. My best ever like a decade ago were squatting max 605, benching max 422.5, pressing 242.5x5 and deadlifting 555x3. This days seem long ago but I'd love to get back there. So I've read Ripps three questions article and I'm thinking I need to increase my calories but is reasonable to double them to 4000 in my case with maybe a compromised metabolism from all this loss? I'd love to keep losing the flab and getting stronger but do you think it's a lost hope at this point? Oh and I'm 41 at 5'8". Last thing is that I'm not working right now and don't go out leave the house much (train at home) so I figured that reduces caloric requirements somewhat. Sorry for the long post but I don't want my efforts so far to go to waste, don't want to swing back into a ball but I don't want to stay weak either.

    Jake,

Congrats on the weight loss. Quick question:

How old are you and how tall are you?

Roger. So- I would not recommend adding body weight for the rest of your LP. Just keep it going for as long as possible then modify programming as needed.
