Meet Taper
Andy,
I am currently following the following split:
Sunday - Vol Sqt/DL Assist
Mon-Vol BP/ID Press
Wed-ID Sqt/DL
Fri- Press ID/Vol BP
I'm ready to switch to a 3 day, Texas Method type template. Need the recovery day now, and want to train all 3 lifts on the same day in preparation for meet day. Meet day is Sunday, May 27. Wondering how I should taper going into the meet. Here is what i have so far, going off your advice to skiing...
Sunday (5/27) - Meet
Wed (5/23) - 3x2-3@80%
Sunday (5/20) - Openers
Wed (5/16) - Last Volume Day
Sun (5/13) - Last ID - Mock Meet
Basically have 3 weeks now, leading up to the start of this taper and this is where I'm up in the air as how to proceed. I'd like to do (due to schedule):
Sunday - Volume Day
Tuesday - Recovery Day
Thursday - Intensity Day
Should I, on week 3 of this plan, skip the Thurs ID, and do that as the first workout of the taper (5/13)? Hope that makes sense.

Everything looks correct. But not sure what you are asking me on the last sentence?

Andy,
I am asking about the transition from week 3 off Texas Method (Sun - Vol, Tues - Recovery, Thurs - ID) to the 1st week of the taper, where Sunday begins with an Intensity day? So if i didn't change something, I would have two ID's in a row:
3rd week of Texas Method template into 1st week of taper would look like this:
Sunday - VD
Tues - Recovery Day
Thurs - ID
**Taper Starts**
Sunday - ID Mock Meet
Wed - Last volume Day
Sunday - Openers
Wed - Light
Sunday - Meet
I'm trying to figure out (planning ahead) how i should play the week prior to the taper, so i don't do two intensity days in a row? Thanks.

Ah ok. My mistake. I see what you mean.
Simplest thing might be to just make that first Thursday a Medium Day. Use weights about where your volume day would be, but don't do alot of volume. That will hold you over til Sunday.
Or.....you could just "spread out" that first week by doing Mon-Volume, Thurs - Light, Sunday - Intensity Day.
I think either approach would be fine.
Make sense?
