How are you structuring the heavy day and the light day?
Hey Andy,
Thanks for doing what you do here to help us muddle through existence in search of continued progress.
quick stats
42 Male - 165Lbs, 5'7" with active crohn's.
Current working sets 3x5
SQ = 235lb
Bench = 165lb
Dead = 275lb
Press = 120lb
I was progressing through a 5/1 scheme for a while until progress stopped. So I went to a HLM setup and have been on that for 3 weeks but I'm finding that I'm so burnt out from Monday H day that Wed L day is actually starting to struggle. I'm going out on a limb and say recovery is the big issue and I mentioned crohn's because that will be the big culprit that's causing me to not take in enough calories to push through growth.
Not sure where to go next. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks again.
This past Monday was Heavy day as follows:
Squat 3x5x235lbs
Bench 3x5x165lbs
GHR 2x10 non weighted
Wed was light as:
Squat 3x5x200lb
Overhead Press 3x5x115
Cable Row
This coming Friday will be medium as:
Squat 3x5x210
Close grip bench 3x5x135
Heavy Deadlift 1x5x275 plus 2 backoffs at 245
No accessories unless I'm feeling really good then I might add an incline DB press after Monday's bench.
Take a 20% offload on your light day. And vary your volume a bit. Like this:
Heavy: 4x5
Light: 2x5 (80% of Monday)
Medium: 3x5 (90% of Monday)
Or maybe with your medical condition:
Heavy 3x5
Light 1x5 (80%)
Med 2x5 (90%)
This program I sell on my site is a 13 Heavy-Light-Medium Program: Garage Gym Warrior ? Andy Baker
You can follow that basic template and then drop set volume if needed
