    And isn't this why the idea of "muscle confusion" applies more to weight loss than strength gains? When it comes to gaining strength, we want to create efficiencies, as that allows us to continue lifting more. On the other hand, when trying to lose weight, the goal is to maximize caloric burn, so we want whatever we're doing to require the most energy possible. No?

    Works there and Arnold used it to make sure he maximised growth and fat loss. But for competitive lifting having the body efficient is ideal.

    Brains don't lift barbells. Besides, your brain seems to be wasting plenty of energy already...

    All muscles do is either relax or contract to some degree, what controls that level of contraction? Your brain, it is a handy thing to use that, I suggest trying it some time.

    What literature would you recommend to perfect the art of the no-handed-pushup? I know, not technically a barbell exercise, and not one you could ever do for reps...
