    Thanks,

The two versions of 4-day upper/lower splits in PP 3 (pp150-152) are organised just that, a day for lower, a day for upper (whether its (vol-vol--int-int) or (vol-int--vol-int) is another matter).

What is the reason to split lifts in such a way?

What is the reason to avoid a "staggered" program?

    Like this or similar:

    Bench intensity / Pull volume
    Press volume / Squat intensity
    ---
    Bench volume / Pull intensity
    Press intensity / Squat volume

Thanks! Just wanting to understand more theory, but unable to find threads on this topic.

Do you want to go in and Squat heavy the day AFTER you deadlift heavy? Making things harder than they need to be.
