^^Has to be your eastern philosophy bias.

Mechanical tension is the same so you'd have to get near the exact same hypertrophy results. Neurologically, the effects would not be the same. The @10 reps would produce potentially substantially different training effects.

3x5@85% is pretty damned close to repeating a 5RM three times. I don't think I could even do that.

    What's his "real man factor"?

    (SVJ-30)(press 1rm)(squat 1rm)?

On the other hand you can use the same 85% and do 5x3 with 2.5 min rest, and be done in 15 minutes. The big question is, will you get the same training effect...?
3x5 at 85% with 10+ minute rests describes a very large chunk of my experience as a lifter before finally, recently, learning it was unnecessary.

It must be hard mentally to come down from long rest periods to shorter ones...it's one of the aspects of SS set up that troubles me the most.

BUT...you'd need reps at rpe 9-10 somewhere in your programming to practice grind skillz.
How many reps and how often? Asking for a ... friend ... who is about to start training twice a week with two lifts a day. So, 4 exercise slots in a week. Over two weeks, squat and press will be done 3 times each, bench and deadlift -- once each.

So Hanley, in a density protocol, I'd reckon the 2 numbers that define it completely would be the time interval and the number of reps. So which do you use? Something like 25 reps in 15 minutes?

You're only going to Deadlift and bench once every two weeks? Good luck with that.
