    • starting strength seminar jume 2024
    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    • starting strength seminar october 2024
    Hi Andy,
    Just bought GGW and have also read your "simplifying HLM" articles. Currently on SS
    and will soon move to HLM. Any comments on this program?

    Mon (Heavy):
    Squat 3x5
    Bench 3x5
    DL 1x5
    Weighted chins/pullups 3 sets

    Wed (Light)
    Squat 3x5 @ 80% of monday
    Press 3x5
    Power clean 15 singles, 30-60 sec rest
    Weighted situps 3 sets
    Curls 3x8

    Fri (Medium)
    Squat 3x5 @ 95% of monday
    Incline bench 3x5
    Barbell Rows 3x8

    Question about starting weights: Can I simply continue from my current 5RMs?

    If it was a true 5RM you probably won't be able to get it for 3x5 right away. Deload a few pounds and don't start too heavy. Will probably work fine although I like to bump volume up a little more than that on heavy day, even if it comes in the form of back offs, or adding a higher intensity set on the front end like a 1-3RM, then 3-4x5 back off.

    Ok, so I'll probably start with a heavier triple for squat and bench then, and a single for the DL.

    That's fine, but vary that stress week to week. Don't do a triple on squat/bench EVERY WEEK. Same for Deads. You can't do the single every week.
