    Hi,

I am looking for a replacement for the Overhead Press.
I cannot do this movement due to that it gives me shoulder pain in the right shoulder.
I have mild scoliosis (spine curvature), and my shoulder is slighty twisted inside.
I have tried it for weeks upon weeks, but every time I get shoulder pain.
I was thinking perhaps Incline Bench Press as a candidate?

Thank you in advance for any replies!

You could try incline bench if you think it is something you want to do. But there are a few more options for overhead work you could play with as well:

    - vary the grip width on your OHP. This could help
    - Try dumbbell pressing or some other kind of bar (like swiss).
    - Limit the ROM a little bit doing seated OHP to the top of your head.

Post a form check. Are you keeping your elbows forward?

Maybe try using a curl bar.

Marcus, if you do in fact have some sort of structural issue in your shoulder, none of can recommend a replacement.

How could we possiblely know what angles & ranges of motion will cause impingement/pain?

I would recommend finding a SS coach and scheduling a session with them.

Thank you Callador, Greg_R, John Bono, John Hanley and kpsmiley for your replies!

I think gripping the bar a few cm's wider on the right side might help ease the pain.

I currently live in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Europe, I am lucky to have a gym as it is (not a great one, just one bench & squat rack for the whole gym lol), but I will be moving to a city in about 3 months, so then I will join a powerlifting gym which has a coach
