    Default Back Bruising from squats

I did a few searches with no luck for bruises on the back from low bar squats. I don't know if this is normal and common with everyone or not. I have two baseball sized bruises on my shoulder blades that are obviously from the bar. I have had the bruises since about December and originally thought it was a callus build up. It is now clear that they are bruises. Does anyone else have these badges of honor?

I have no such thing, but I heard a couple of people complaining about that around here.

You have a bruise that hasn't healed in SIX MONTHS?!

This is not a normal occurrence.

Well hell's bells; that's not what I wanted to hear. I was hoping I would get a "we all have those, jackass" reply. Now I need to run this down and figure out wtf is going on. I don't bruise easily, never have. I'm not talking about deep purple and black bruises, but there is definitely bruising that I have noticed since around Christmas. I have some photos that I can post later. Hopefully someone else will have had the same issue and can shed some light on this.

    Thanks-

Is barbell bouncing on your back? I does it "become airborne" at the top of rep and crash back on your shoulder blades?

No. The only thing I can imagine is that when I go through my set-up for the squat I may try so hard to get the bar low on my back (flexibility issues) that I cause the bruising.

What? Are you smacking your back against the bar with full force?

Here are some photos that I had my wife take. These have been the same size since December.

The middle pic shows them best. I am not slamming into the bar.

I had those at one point, caused by a slipping bar. Rip has mentioned that he does not tan along the "barline."
