If it's on one side (at the level of the hip) >> it's not disc-related >> so it's a muscle >> Starr rehab

    Please correct where wrong!

PS: happened when trying to pull too much, fatigue prevented me from setting the back correctly

Maybe you just tweaked it. Why jump to the Starr rehab conclusion?

It's not a muscle, it's probably SI joint related, had the same thing couple months ago.
Personally I just trained trough it (paying special attention to my form) while it was getting better, try that.

What's a tweak? I see that word a lot but I don't know what it means specifically

I did try to train through it but I can't squat heavy and it got a little worse (it was not very bad to start with though)

I tweaked my SI joint twice dead lifting early in my start of SS. I ended up having to rest it for two weeks and then did a big reset (it felt ridiculous) and then slowly increased the weights each week concentrating on form.

Is that true that if pain is felt on one side of the lower back it's a muscle issue?

No, that usually means a facet or SI joint, from what I read on the forums muscle issues in the back are rare
