    Default Broken foot

Looking for advice. I started 'starting strength' programming about 2 months ago. 2 weeks ago, I broke my 5th metatarsal. It's a spiral fracture. I went to one orthopedic and he told me to stay on crutches for a month then see him again. Then I went to a foot specialist and he told me I could start weight bearing as soon as I felt comfortable. By then end of the day I was off the crutches. I put most of the weight on the ball and heel of the foot when I walk and stand.
It's been 2 weeks and I don't want to lose the progress that I've made in my lifts. Any advice on if I should start lifting again would be helpful. How do I go about it. At the very least I will work on technique of the lifts with the bar.

It sounds like you have the answer already. I guess if you can walk and stand on it, you could start training again. Good lifting shoes would probably help. Start light and pay attention to how your foot feels. Be sure you have all tge safeties in place in case your foot snaps in half. From a technique perspective, be very concientious about the master cue - you may unconciously try to avoid it depending on how your foot feels.

Thanks Jeff for the reply. I went ahead and did sets of just the bar to start with. I tried lifting in the boot that I'm in and that didn't work. Also, the outside bottom of the knee is in pain. Probably due to having to compensate for the break. I think I'll just keep working on it. Unfortunately, I think the progress I made before will have to be put on hold and start from day one once the foot heals. Until then I will work on proper form for the lifts. Press is significantly easier.
