    Default Clicking in the hip

Since Monday I've noticed a really abnormal clicking/snapping in my left hip. Every time I stand up straight, tighten my core, raise my left leg past 90 degrees ( http://www.hips4fastrecovery.com/wha...HipFlexion.jpg ) then lower my leg, I feel this weird clicking. I have no idea what it is. It could be the femur moving incorrectly in the acetabulum, a tendon moving incorrectly/trapped etc. I am fairly concerned about it. I have no pain at the moment (when either squatting/or sitting down) but I'm afraid I'm really damaging my left hip. I've only got back to squatting on Monday
Does anyone have any ideas what it is and how to correct it?
    Thanks in advance

What evidence have you found that clicking--in the absence of pain--indicates that some damage is being done to the body?

Just spent the last few hours researching my symptoms and it seems very likely that I have snapping hip syndrome. I've tried to find corrective exercises or something to help it but it all seems wishy washy physical therapy-esque crap.
Has anyone ever had this, heard of this and know how to treat it?
