Any good recommendations for a gym in El Paso, preferably on the east side of El Paso, where I can squat in a squat rack with 250 lbs on a Saturday evening in June? I just need to get in one session...
When you are sufficiently advanced that you cannot set new records on a two week cycle and want to lengthen the cycle to three weeks. You'll know!
Wendler has provided templates both ways which means it is not critical and personal preference and results should guide you.
Wendler has made it pretty clear that as long as you are doing the 5/3/1 sets, even just the Jack Shit template, you are doing 5/3/1. Throw some assistance in there in one of many combos he's shown...
I don't want to take Karl's thread too far off topic. See http://startingstrength.com/resources/forum/showthread.php?t=38432&p=650904#post650904
The 5/3/1 first edition seemed to have a lot of integrity and consistency. Wendler really seemed to be stretching in the second edition to widen the appeal of 5/3/1 and make more money. He was...
I've added "Karl's Method" to the calculator. Please give it a try and let me know if anything needs adjusting.
I also added a new "Bastard" work set...
I just had a response from Rogue that they should have these shoes in stock by the end of the month.
Did anyone get a pair of these? What do you think?
They are sold out. :-(
If enough people are doing Karl's routine, I could add it to the Black Iron Beast 5/3/1 calculator.
If she won't follow the program because she can't deal with a reset then she may have some mental toughness issues that will crop up later when she reaches the end of novice gains. It could be good...
Joe pointed out the barbell weight can be changed in the calculator.
Why are you not doing the Starting Strength program?!
I know its been a long time but I finally figured out how to do this nicely so the user interface is intuitive. Please check out the new version of the calculator. Now you can build your next month...
From 5/3/1 second edition? Is there something mathematical that can be automated with a calculator?
Yep. The calculator computes one cycle. You rerun the calculator for each following cycle.
I never really took a good look at that template until last week. It looks great.
Glad you like it. :-)
I have put the 3 day options for many of the templates in the calculator. Did you see those?
Where is the "pure strength" option described?
You've been given the answer but there is a lot more in Wendler's book. If you are using his 5/3/1 program, it is worth buying his book.
I've added the new templates to the calculator. It was a lot of work but I'm really happy to have these templates in the tool. I don't even run 5/3/1 for myself but so many people seem to find the...
