From another 50+ starter - first of all, I think you are doing a lot - and as I was advised here too, you don't want to overtrain and burn out.
Second, though I don't want to discourage you from...
IMHO, a headache even after such exertion and related breathing isn't normal. Throwing up perhaps, but not the headache. You might want to check with a doctor.
Makes sense to me, may take a stab at it in 2013.
Thank you.
Seems to me that anyone that reads this thread will not ever want to be a spotter for a BP.
A 50+ age SS beginner, my 5x5 twice weekly squats are up to 200 lbs, started at 125 three months ago. The 6 week thrice a week, starting at 100 lbs sounds right for me. At this age I am however not...
An old favourite, Nevil Shute. On the Beach is good, but depressing. On the other hand, most of his books are simple, heartwarming stories. Trustee from the Tool Room, Landfall, The Chequer Board,...
Just a few that immediately come to mind:
The entire Patrick O'Brian set about Aubrey/Maturin. Life in the Nelsonian Navy, and books I reread every couple of years. The movie is very superficial....
I have. More than once.
No? I am no expert, but I think you say different in the chapter in the press in the context of sports conditioning in the SS 3rd edition that I use as a reference for my program.

My suggestion is for those for who it isn't so.
Agreed. But I thought that the main objective of SS was strength augmentation to carry over to other sports/activity.
Makes sense. Equally productive I should think and less reliant on spotters?
Isn't it safer, sensible and equally productive to do the OHP instead?
+1 to that. It is simpler to make a list of foods to avoid. I would also include in that things made from refined carbs/starches/flour. Deep fried stuff. Heavily processed food. Sodas. Even fruit...
+1 to that.
And while I am not from the younger, wanting to grow set, I am not sure it is good for your health to ever force yourself to eat - akin to how geese and other animals are force fed for...
I started having elbow trouble after getting to 5x6 bodyweight chin ups. Took a weeks break and working back up, using the palms facing each other grip/bar, that seems easier on the elbow tendons. I...
Somewhere in one of the books it is made clear that the program is meant for an age demographic of 18 to 35. So those of us that have comfortably outlived this demographic need to find the program...
As another Indian here, I think we have a lot of work to do inside the country before criticising any other country, or its people. And even after, I don't see how that serves any purpose at all.
