I do a Graded Exercise Protocol (GXP) twice a week, followed by two easy days of cardio at 55%-60%.
The GXP takes 15 minutes. You ramp up to 85% of your maximum heart rate (MHR) over a period of 5 minutes. Stay at 85% MHR for 5 minutes, and ramp down again over 5 minutes. It's working pretty well for me as an authentic geezer at 59.

Either a 2-3 mile run or about 15 minutes of barbell complexes. Once a week on a non-lifting day.

I like to drag a couple of teenagers by the hair around a parking lot for intervals.

I'm 48 in a couple of weeks.
I do DB swings for 6-8 sets of 10-12 about once a week, usually with 24-30kg dumbbells (53-66 lbs). I row 500m on a C2 rower about once a week. I walk for about an hour a day, more on weekends usually. I swim occasionally (~1x mth), usually around 4-500m these days. I'm not in the best swimming shape at the moment.

I'm 56. If I'm not squatting heavy that day or feel particularly energetic, I will row a 2K on a Concept 2 as a warm up, trying to set a PR every time (certainly not world class, just broke 8:30); otherwise I just do 5 minutes. Once or twice a week on non-lifting days I try to get in a Stairmaster workout for 30 minutes either Fatburner Plus or Intervals, at a pace where I don't think I could do 31 minutes; when I start to get comfortable I raise the level a notch, up at Level 15 currently.
And every day I do the stairs out of the lower level of Grand Central Station with a 25lb computer backpack over my shoulder, 6 or so stories. It certainly gets the heart pumping in anticipation of a deskbound day.

I was doing this and I plan on getting back to it. These are rotated in and I perform 1 each week. I also do BJJ 2x a week at Alliance.
Day 1 - Tire Flips + Med Ball Chop & OH Throw + Mtn Climber
Day 2 - Power Clean & Push Press + DB Burpee + BW Vert Jump
Day 3 - Sprint Start + Farmers Walk + Directional Slides
There are thorough explanations in my training journal if anyone has any questions.

Right now I'm on cfwf and do 5 rounds for time of 10 dumbell hang power snatches + 10 kettlebell swings + 10 squats (best time is 5:26 but I just started) and 10 min cindy. Once I get onto 5/3/1 I'll be doing four conditioning workouts a week. I'll be continuing with the two I'm doing now and add Fran and a modified Helen (sans pull ups because I want it to be lower body centric.)
I'm 20 though. Didn't realize till after I posted the section this was in.Last edited by Regin Smidur; 07-31-2010 at 03:24 PM.
