Hello to all. I have started doing SS workouts several weeks ago with very good results. I have substituted Front squat for Back squat due to herniated disc(c-5, c-6). Is the Front squat anywhere near an acceptable substitute for the Back squat? I have been reading about the "low bar" position for the back squat and am wondering if I could get away with that bar position for the back squat? My old back squat position was pretty high on the back. I am researching the videos and have not been able to see the exact bar position. Thanks for your response.

Have you read the book? You should.

Did you herniate the disc doing squats?

I would say that if your neck does not give you pain in a neutral position, and you follow the squat procedure in the book (SS:BBT), then you to can low-bar squat.

I would concentrate really hard on correct head position as explained in the book.

I have dessicated disks from c3 to c6 and the low bar squat gives me less trouble with my neck than any other lift. Get the book and read very carefully.
