    Default Squat Form Check - working back up to 300 lb after injury

    Having recently recovered from a lower back injury, I am looking for some feedback on my squat.

    You're going to want to hold the bar a little lower on your shoulders, and lower in your hands. Push your knees out a little more at the bottom. Those changes should help you squat deeper.

    I'm going to preface this by saying I assume you are trying to do the squat as Rip teaches it (low-bar style). I agree with Mike about holding the bar a little lower on your shoulders. You also let your knees come far forward which is partially a result of having the bar higher up. You also don't utilize a ton of hip drive, but again, this is difficult with the bar as high up as you have it. Try lowering the bar on your shoulders and then think of shooting the hips back on the descent. And watch Rip's video about hip drive to see how to handle the way up.

    If you're trying to do high bar squats, disregard all of the advice above haha.
