Do you have PPST or SS on the bookshelf?
I'd say you really should start there.
If not, what was your starting DL, how long have you done SS, and how big are you?
Last deadlifting day, I tried to DL 215 pounds with a double overhand grip but I wasn't keeping my lower back in extension. Someone told me to back off of the weight. But my last military press day(75 pounds) was so hard. Now I know what Rippetoe means by "busting a nut". I was shaking so hard on the last rep but I finished it. Today was supposed to be my deadlifting day but I missed my workout so I'm doing it tomorrow. My starting DL was 135 pounds. I've been training for a month and I'm 166 pounds.
I want to Dl enough to stimulate my body enough to drive that damn press. I don't want to DL a little and then suck at military pressing 80 pounds. How much should I deadlift?
