Default 5x5 once a week for older intermediate

Mark, I'm still making slow progress on Texas Method, but I find I am not recovering as well as I'd like and the workouts, esp on monday, are taking too long and kicking my ass.

I could swear that in PP you say that 5x5 on each of the four lifts spread out over the week - so one lift, 5x5 once a week - is a good intermediate program, but I can't find that in the first or second editions.

In any case, for an older guy like me who wants to stay strong and make some additional, slow is fine, progress, do you think 5x5 like this is a reasonable approach? I am also thinking of alternating th 5x5 with 3x3 each week to help drive up the weight without too much volume.

I was considering one of the advance programs, but they are all too complicated for me and my goals, and while I am older, I'm not I think "advanced".

    Any advice on this?

This also sounds like it would work nicely.
