Default Another set of eyes is often helpful...

Here's my final set of squats from this past week. I thought I would ask if anyone has any thoughts on what to work on. I know that I'm descending faster that I probably should. Anything else?

Haters are welcome to comment as well. I know there are a few of you.

I was watching your heels, and it look like you're rocking forward onto your toes at the bottom. Is that a correct observation?

@Tescott: Maybe. I know I was having some trouble that set (my back was acting up a little). I notice that the first rep is worse than the consecutive ones. I'll keep this in mind.

@misspelled: The belt is on order (elitefts retrobelt). Should be here in another week.

I saw just a slight lift of your heels too, and it may be because it seems like you break at the knees first instead of breaking at the hips first. That often produces a tendency for the knees to go forward and weight to shift onto the balls of your feet. Maybe that's something to consider. But the heel raise is so minor in this video, I wouldn't have noticed the heels unless someone else had pointed it out.

Basically, your squats looked awesome to me, FWIW.

Not only that, but I'm jealous that your Y has such a rack. That's a legit, full sized power rack. The one I lift in most often here in Baltimore has this for a "squat rack"... (check first 30 seconds of the video)

I think this is correct. I'll try focusing on the hips rather than knees on Friday and post an update. Thanks. This is not something I would have caught by myself.

Breaking at the knees at the top has little to do with lifting off the heels at the bottom position. Break at both at the same time. That way you won't run into other problems you get with breaking at the hips first. Read the stuff on the TUBOW and surroundings in SS.
