I think, no problem, I'll just grab another bar, and he's just deadlifting, so he'll be able to move out of the way (there is tons of room in front of the smith machines and so forth along the same wall). So I say to him "Hey do you mind if I use the squat rack for some squats?" and was surprised when he said "No man, can't you see I'm deadlifting here? I'll be done in a few minutes". I said "But there is only one place to do squats, and you can deadlift anywhere along here". And he said, "But I have to be able to check my form", which I assume meant he needed to look in the mirror, but anywhere else along that wall would be the same view. I started to say as much and he just kept saying "Dude, I'm not trying to be a dick, but I was here first and I need to check my form". He then offered up that I could grab another bar and work in squats in between his sets, but clearly was annoyed by the idea. I'm the most passive guy in the world, and was already past my normal threshold of confrontation, so I just acquiesced and did exactly that.
I feel like I was being reasonable asking him to move over a few feet, and that he was being a dick, and it's irritating that I'm sure he feels the same way about me. Was I being reasonable?
